Water Regs UK is a subscription company funded by the UK's water companies. Its purpose is to protect public health by promoting compliance with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, the Northern Ireland Regulations 2009 and the Scottish Water Byelaws 2014 — keeping water in premises safe to drink and preventing waste.

What Water Regs UK does

• Acts as the central hub for information on the water fittings regulations and how to comply
• Supports consistent interpretation of the regulations across water companies
• Publishes guidance and the Water Fittings Directory of tested fittings and materials
• Takes part in developing British and European Standards
• Administers WaterSafe, the UK-wide register of qualified installers and RPZ testers
• Runs the Water Industry Approved Plumbers' Scheme (WIAPS)

Why it matters to installers

Any fitting connected to the public mains must comply with the water fittings regulations or byelaws. For plumbers wanting approved contractor status through WIAPS, a recognised Water Regulations Knowledge certificate is the entry requirement.
