Above Ground Drainage and Rainwater Systems

Designed to give installers the skills and knowledge required to correctly install above ground drainage and rainwater systems, this course consists of a training/reference manual to be read beforehand, followed by a 1-day training session and a written assessment.

Who it's for

This qualification is aimed at practising plumbers who hold an S/NVQ Level 2/3 in plumbing, or who have a demonstrable number of years of relevant experience. It's also suitable for those currently working towards an S/NVQ Level 2/3.

What you'll learn

On completion, you will be able to:

• Understand the legislation and key installation requirements of above ground sanitation systems.
• Identify types of above ground sanitary pipework system and key system design features.
• Use self-sealing valves as an alternative to traps.
• Work with specialist appliances, including macerator WCs and sink waste disposal units.
• Commission above ground sanitary pipework systems.
• Design and install rainwater systems.

Assessment

The qualification is assessed by:

• A written assessment, taken as a theory examination.

Certificates are normally valid for 5 years.

Duration

The course runs as a 1-day training session, covering all topics in the training manual in more depth and including some practical work.

Entry requirements

You should hold one of the following (or equivalent):

• S/NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing.
• A demonstrable number of years of relevant experience, or currently working towards an S/NVQ Level 2/3.
