Trade to Trainer and Assessor

Deliver the training and sign off the assessments. The Trade to Trainer and Assessor Programme takes you from experienced tradesperson to qualified teacher and assessor in one combined course, covering both the Level 3 Award in Education and Training and the Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement.

• How to carry out fair, consistent assessments of vocational skills and knowledge.
• How your teaching and assessing roles support each other, with proper recording and evidencing for both.
• Short, informal micro-teaching sessions to practise delivering training and get feedback.

• Tradespeople who want to run their own training and sign off the assessments themselves.
• Anyone building toward a training manager or centre lead role, where both skill sets are expected.

• Run as a single combined programme covering both qualifications.
• Evidence-based — you'll build a portfolio for each qualification.

Qualification details

• Teaching: Highfield Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) — QAN 601/1636/5, 12 credits, 48 GLH, 120 total qualification time
• Assessing: Highfield Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocationally Related Achievement (RQF) — QAN 600/3872/X, 9 credits, 54 GLH
• Assessment: Portfolio of evidence for each qualification, internally assessed and quality assured by the centre
• Entry requirement: Minimum age 19; no other formal prerequisites, though a Level 2 qualification is advisable for the assessing route
• Regulation: Ofqual, Qualifications Wales and CCEA Regulation · delivery available across England, Wales and Northern Ireland
